[God, sometimes she hates when Kaz has these phrases that he tells her cleverly. He's too clever. She loves him terribly.
He pauses when she turns, and she studies his face closely, seeing something like want cross his face. It thrills her, but before she can read much else, he's turning from her. At first, she's confused and frustrated.
Then she realizes what he's doing. He's allowing her to snuggle up behind him. So she does, taking his hand and sliding in behind him. He's warm and solid, and she finds she likes being the big spoon. She sets her head against his shoulder for a second, squeezing his hand in a thank you for trusting me, and then lies her head back on the pillow.]
Fine, but I might have trouble stealing from the Moonblessed.
[ He can feel the momentary disappointment. A second ticks by and things click, her small hand slipping into his. Kaz curls his fingers gently, looping her arm over his middle when she slides closer. It's takes a few more moments of shuffling and shifting but soon they're both settled.
For as slight as she is, she puts off a ton of warmth. The line of her body matches up along his spine and it has a surprisingly relaxing effect. It feels like all of his muscles lose their tension, including that bit in his neck that always seems to cause a headache.
He runs a thumb across her knuckles, his answer to her reassurance. ]
Good, it'll give you a challenge. Can't get better by always aiming for the easy pigeons, you know that.
[He relaxes in her hold, and she smiles, happy with this new position. His thumb runs across her knuckles, and then he tells her what she doesn't want to hear.
She huffs out a breath in frustration.] Doesn't mean I'll like it.
[She thinks of Konoha, polite and sweet. Inej isn't always very good at being a criminal, she thinks, frowning.] I guess you're right, though
I'd suggest knife throwing, but it might be difficult to find something like that here. [ Not that she necessarily needs the practice. It's an option. Perhaps not a very good one. Maybe they both need hobbies.
Though the mere thought of that is baffling. So much freedom and he has no idea what to do with it.
At the same time, he's having some difficulty mustering any kind of nervous energy to pursue his thoughts. An unusual thing, for him. Most nights he stays up because he can't get his brain to turn off. But right now he's just so...comfortable. The drowsiness from earlier coming back with a vengeance. ]
[She doesn't answer except with a 'mm' sound, settling in closer. Maybe they did need hobbies. It was kind of sad how much time they had on their hands now that they didn't know what to do with. Maybe she'd come up with hobbies for them each to try, to try and broaden their horizons.
She notices him getting drowsy and snuggles up closer, making a content noise. She can see the hard line of his jaw, his cheekbones, the pale skin of his neck. He's so handsome and so, so young-looking when he's got his eyes closed. He looks so tired.
She presses her nose to the back of his shirt. This is nice. She drowses off herself, content.]
